The Lunch Club

Founded in 2019 as a way to connect freelancers over a shared meal, the Lunch Club 215 started out of the need to connect. Working from home by myself, for myself, in a brand new city, was liberating - yet lonely. Teaming up with a partner who knew Philly’s food scene through and through, turned out to be the start of a more ambitious endeavor than we could have imagined.

Partnering with co-working spaces, restaurants and small businesses around the city - what we initially thought was just a small gathering of likeminded individuals, soon turned into a niche subculture. Bringing together independent workers over Instagram messages, a Slack channel and an ever-growing email chain, the list of people who we initially thought “worked remote” soon multiplied.

Working to bring together the “coworker-less” across the city of Philadelphia, over the course of a year successfully launched nearly 20 events bringing together nearly 300+ independents during this time. Heading into 2020 with the same goals in mind, we’re excited to watch our community grow as we continue to foster those genuine connections in the city.
